Assigning workers to a job

Put crew on a job so it shows in their app and they can clock in to it.

Why assignment matters

Until you assign somebody to a job, that job does not appear in their app and they cannot clock in to it. Assignment is how work reaches the crew, so do it as soon as the job exists. It is the step people most often forget, and the usual answer when a worker says the job is missing.

Assign crew to a job

  1. Click Jobs in the sidebar and open the job.
  2. Use the assign workers action in the row of buttons at the top of the job.
  3. Tick every crew member who is working on it.
  4. Save. The button shows how many people you have selected.

Assigned workers see this job in their app and can clock in to it. Nothing else changes for them.

Changing who is on a job

Assignment is not permanent. Open the same panel again, untick anyone who has moved on, tick anyone new, and save. The list always reflects who is currently assigned, so it is worth a look when crews shuffle mid-week.

Taking somebody off a job does not remove the hours or receipts they already logged against it. Those stay on the job, on the Time and Receipts tabs, where your costs are built from.

If nobody appears in the list

If the panel tells you there is no crew yet, nobody has been invited to your company. Invite them first, then come back to the job.

  1. Click Workers in the sidebar.
  2. Click Invite crew member and send the invite.
  3. Reopen the job and assign them.

What an assigned worker can do

  • See the job in the iOS app and in the web app
  • Clock in and out against it
  • Attach receipts to it
  • See their own hours on it, and nobody else's pay
