Creating a job
Add a job with a name, customer, site address, and contract value so hours and receipts have somewhere to go.
What a job holds
A job is the container everything else posts against. Hours, receipts, documents, customer payments, and site log notes all attach to one job, which is how SiteLedger can show a live margin instead of a year-end surprise. Make one job per contract, not one per phase.
Only owners can create jobs. Workers see jobs after you assign them.
Create the job
- Click Jobs in the sidebar.
- Click New job.
- Enter the job name and the customer. Both are required.
- Enter the street address, city, state, and ZIP. The street address is required.
- Pick a status: Planning, Active, or On hold.
- Click Create job.
Give the job a name your crew will recognise on a phone screen. It is the label they pick from when they clock in.
Why the site address matters
The site address is not only for your records. It is what your geofenced clock-in is checked against, so a vague address makes for vague hours. Put in the address the crew actually drives to, not the billing address of the customer.
Contract value and dates
Contract value is what the customer is paying you. Margin on the job is calculated live against it, so a job with no contract value will show costs and hours but a dash where the margin should be. You can add it later on the edit screen.
Start date and estimated completion are optional. They show on the job overview and in the jobs list. The Notes field at the bottom is a good place for scope, access instructions, and inspection contacts.
Changing a job later
- Open the job from the Jobs list.
- Click Edit job at the top of the page.
- Change what you need and click Save changes.
Delete job is a separate button and it removes the record. If the work is simply finished, set the status to Completed instead.
