Clocking in and out
How a worker starts and ends a shift, and what to do when a punch gets missed.
Clocking in
- Open Time Clock. On the web it is in the sidebar; on the phone it is the clock screen.
- Pick the job from the list. Only jobs that are still open appear there.
- Tap Clock in. The app checks your location before it saves the punch.
If no jobs are listed, none are assigned to you yet. Ask the office to add you to the job, then try again.
While you are on the clock
The screen shows a running timer, the job you are on, and the time you started. Below it, the week card shows your hours so far against 40. Your foreman sees the same running total from the office, so nobody has to reconstruct the week on Friday.
Clocking out
- Open Time Clock again.
- Tap Clock out.
- Check that the shift now shows a clock-out time in the week list.
The finished entry goes to your foreman as pending. It stays pending until someone approves or rejects it, and approved hours are what payroll is built from.
If you forget, or the phone dies
A missed punch is fixed with a manual entry. Anyone with office access can add one from the Timesheets page.
- Click Timesheets, then add a time entry.
- Choose the worker and the job.
- Set the date, the clock in and clock out times, and the total hours.
- Pick a reason, such as a dead phone, a forgotten clock-in, work outside the geofence, or no signal.
- Add a note explaining the change, then save the entry.
Manual entries have no geofence record, so they are always flagged for approval. The reason and the note follow the entry into the approval queue and the audit log.
Working with no signal
Crews can clock in and out with no connection. The punch is held on the device and syncs the moment the phone is back in range, so a basement or a rural lot does not cost anyone their hours.
